Children's services

DCS provision
- In December 2008 our remit was extended to include training and support for serving and aspiring directors of children's services (DCSs). In addition to a suite of programmes, the provision we have developed in collaboration with our partners incorporates:
- Leadership framework for DCSs
  Pinpoints the key knowledge, skills and behaviours for effective leadership in children's services
- DCS succession planning initiative
  To build and maintain a pipeline of high quality leaders for children's services

- See inspections as an opportunity

- Maintain a connection with the people you serve
  Catherine Fitt explains, in this 50Lessons video, why it's critical for leaders to make a personal connection with the people they serve.

- DCS Peer Support scheme
  Use your experience and expertise to support other DCSs with their leadership challenges. Application round to become a peer supporter closes 3 September.
- DCS Policy Commission
  Work collaboratively with other directors of children's services on a key strategic issue, central to future development in children's services. Application round opens in October.
