Co-location has been seen as a solution to many problems over the years, but it has never conclusively been proven to be effective. This paper reports on an investigation that asks whether co-location could play a vital role in meeting local needs at a time when there is increasing focus on extending our services.
It describes how services are being co-located in 11 communities around the country. It features leaders, staff, parents and children talking about their experiences, detailing the problems but also celebrating their successes for others to learn from.
It looks at the importance of robust and enterprising governance and the need for leaders to have a wide repertoire of leadership and management skills.
Featuring cameo descriptions of each setting as well as detailed illustrations of the way co-location provided both challenges and solutions, this report allows leaders to learn from others' experiences to decide if co-location could offer them new possibilities.
