The material in this toolkit for school leaders is drawn from research into the link between Every Child Matters, school standards and school leadership.
Its primary focus is on the core values and purposes of extended schools, how these are realised in practice and how they may become integral to improvement planning. The resource promotes learning within the school community, including the governing body and can be used as a precursor to, and in conjunction with the school improvement planning framework.
We hope this will promote discussion within senior leadership teams and extend to colleagues both within the school and with partner agencies in the local community. The central theme is learning and the role of leaders at every level to keep that priority in the foreground of all school activity.
These materials may also prove useful in bringing the governing body into discussions of purpose, values and leverage strategies.
