This review to summarise the state of knowledge about effective school leadership, and it starts by setting out some key overarching themes. These involve the identification of several core leadership practices such as setting direction and developing people .
This review was conducted in 2008 as one part of the College's review of provision ( ROP ) process.
Leadership practices
The leadership practices are generally linked to a more complicated set of issues:
- school context and responsive leadership
- learning-centred leadership
- distributed leadership
Initiatives such as Every Child Matters, personalised learning and the 14-49 agenda all inform the conclusions that are summed up in 12 points.
