The Every Child Matters agenda has had a massive impact on schools since its launch, particularly in increasing extended services offered by schools. This pack of case studies is part of a toolkit designed to promote leadership in these organisations, looking at how ECM has led to an improvement in school standards.
These case studies provide a detailed examination of five extended schools in a variety of settings, from voluntary aided junior schools and inner-city primaries to large rural comprehensives.
Each study considers a number of key topics, including what are the extended services on offer at each school, what steers the school in terms of vision, values and professional competencies, what has been the impact of ECM on standards, and how it has affected leadership, internal development, and partnerships.
Drawing informed conclusions about the changes, challenges and improvements at each school, this pack identifies the key elements of leadership that has led to success, providing a useful resource for every setting.
