Find out the impact that new approaches to the leadership and management of schools have on student outcomes.
A sample of 50 local authorities and 264 schools were identified and analysed to compare the educational performance of different groups of students. The study identifies six broad, and sometimes overlapping, categories of federation, some more common than others. The findings of the research summarise:
- the impact of federations on overall performance
- which category of federation has the strongest impact on student outcomes
- whether there is evidence of a relationship between federation and Ofsted judgements (grades)
- if there is a differential impact on students from different socio-economic settings, differences in gender or with special educational needs
