This research project considers the impact, both actual and potential, of using futures thinking as part of the school improvement process.
It reviews current research on the need for a futures perspective in education and the application of futures thinking in schools. Drawing on the experience of a number of school leaders who have used futures thinking with their staff, a collection of activities is suggested which, singly or collectively, could support a wider group of school leaders in undertaking similar work and accessing its benefits.
