Examines the effects of the 11-19 curriculum reforms on school development and leadership. Key learning includes: change the culture gradually to get staff on board and ensure changes will self-sustain; have positive, supportive conversations in meetings; encourage and enable all staff to go in to observe lessons and share ideas; one-to-one conversations and coaching of individuals is important; model good pedagogy and what skills-based learning should look like, with good practice showcased; use CPD to keep all staff (and students) fully engaged; ensure the leadership group adapt approaches and market ideas diplomatically; have a large team of staff involved, both for leadership and delivery; give monitoring prominence in the school and team development plans.
