School improvement workshop resources
The National College recently awarded 150 grants of around £2,000 to schools in order to provide funding for facilitated workshops for groups of around 15 chairs of governors.
The grants aim to improve school leadership by:
- encouraging collaboration across governing bodies
- improving the sharing of best practice across governing bodies
- sharing examples of governing bodies’ contributions to school improvement
List of schools offering workshops
If you wish to attend a school improvement workshop in your area, below is a link to a table containing details of schools who have been awarded a grant and are holding school improvement workshops. Please contact the school directly for further details about capacity, dates and how to book.
Resources
The following resources have been designed to help workshop facilitators deliver and co-ordinate local workshops. They can also be used by anyone wishing to collaborate locally without the support of a grant:
- powerpoint presentation of the workshop session
- facilitator notes, including timetable
- action planning worksheet
- case study (primary) showing good practice in driving school improvement
- case study (secondary) showing good practice in driving school improvement
For those who have received a grant, the following should be completed and submitted to the College following the delivery of your workshop:
- a post-workshop report, to be submitted to the College, capturing local best practice of chairs’ work to support school improvement – this could take the format of a traditional report, bullet points, case studies or another appropriate format
- an evaluation report, to be submitted to the College six months after the workshop, which captures the actions towards school improvement undertaken by the chairs of governors who attended the workshop
