Maximising progress in small rural primary schools
The maximising progress project focused on supporting the leadership of small rural primary schools in order to improve pupils’ progress, and raise attainment through enhanced leadership capacity and cluster approaches to shared school improvement priorities. The project engaged with 13 clusters in 4 local authorities – Warwickshire, Shropshire, Oxfordshire and Dorset. The project offered a range of support including collaborative grants to recruit and access a school business manager (SBM) or specialist teacher, and access to bespoke cluster-based training eg RAISEonline and senior leadership team development.
Final reports were submitted by the clusters in Summer term 2011. A project evaluation report will follow shortly detailing the key learning and impact from the project.
