Primary academies
Since 2010, the government’s academies programme has made it possible for any school to be considered for academy status; a state-funded but independently run school.
In addition to the National College’s overarching work on academies, the primary leadership team is currently exploring what support might be given to leaders of primary phase academies who are sponsoring or considering sponsoring other schools/academies. Work is underway to draw upon the experience of those already converted to primary academy status: to identify the leadership implications and look at what future support the College might offer.
