Seizing Success 2011: pre-conference programme for international delegates

13-15 June, National College for School Leadership, Nottingham
This residential study visit enabled our international delegates to find out more about leadership of the English education system, its challenges and its successes.
Forty-four leaders attended the event, which was described as "wonderful", "well-organised and comprehensive", before heading to Birmingham to join the annual conference.
Delegates from Vietnam, Korea, Thailand, USA, Australia and New Zealand had the opportunity to share their own country’s educational leadership challenges and discover different strategies and approaches adopted by others.
The residential included:
- an introduction to the work of the National College
- an overview of the UK government’s education policy
- observation of practice in local schools
- an opportunity to meet and share information with school leaders (including headteachers, senior leaders and school business managers) from primary, secondary and special needs schools
- an exploration of international practice relating to leadership and school improvement
A summary of a workshop on the latest international research on educational leadership is available on the conference blog.
If you are interested in attending this event next year, please contact our international team.
