SBM workshop: Conversion to academy status
This workshop explores the issues that will most heavily affect the work and role of the school business manager (SBM) when a school converts to academy status.
The aims of the workshop are to:
- develop your understanding of the major strategic challenges that SBMs working in schools converting to academies will face
- provide information on academy accounting and reporting requirements, and how these differ from those used for local authority maintained schools
- give you guidance on the human resources (HR) implications of a change to academy status
- develop your knowledge and understanding of the implications for the management of school facilities, buildings and grounds that result from a change to academy status
Who can apply?
The workshop is targeted largely at SBMs or those carrying out the business function in schools which are:
- considering conversion to academy status
- preparing to convert to academy status
- in the process of converting to academy status
What’s involved?
The workshop consists of five sessions, each being delivered at a face-to-face event. There is no assessment, however certificates will be awarded.
