SBM workshop: Leading procurement in schools

This workshop focuses on procurement strategy, processes and opportunities to help schools achieve value-for-money from their purchases.

The aims of the workshop are to:

  • raise awareness of the national importance attached to school procurement in contributing to the achievement of value-for-money
  • provide information on the sources of support and procurement services available to schools, both nationally and locally
  • develop the skills necessary for drawing up accurate specifications and tenders for goods and services
  • develop your skills in contract management and negotiation
  • develop your knowledge and understanding of:
    • the procurement cycle and the opportunities for efficiencies at each stage
    • legislative frameworks – local, national and international – that apply to school procurement activities
    • best practice in a number of areas of school procurement, for example energy, catering and contracted services
    • the benefits of e-procurement
    • sustainable procurement policies and practices

Who can apply?

The workshop is targeted towards those with responsibility for both the strategic and operational aspects of procurement in their schools.

What’s involved?

The workshop consists of four sessions, each being delivered at a face-to-face event. There is no assessment, however certificates will be awarded.
