SBM workshop: Supporting teaching and learning

This workshop develops the school business managers’ (SBMs) understanding of effective teaching and learning, and how resourcing decisions can affect the quality of the pupils’ classroom experience. Both the impact of human and physical resources are explored, for example teachers, technology, support staff and school buildings.

The aims of the workshop are to develop your:

  • general knowledge and understanding of some of the theories of effective teaching and learning
  • knowledge of how teaching and learning are evaluated in schools
  • understanding of the relationship between school inputs (teachers, technology etc) and its outputs (the achievements of its pupils)
  • skills in measuring the impact of resources on teaching and learning

Who can apply?

The workshop is targeted at those who wish to broaden their understanding of what constitutes effective teaching and learning, in order to improve the quality of their decision-making and their contributions to discussions with senior educational leaders in their organisation.

What’s involved?

The workshop consists of six sessions, each being delivered at a face-to-face event. There is no assessment, however certificates will be awarded.
