In 2006 Neil Wilson was voted North West Secondary Headteacher of the Year.

Now, as executive headteacher at Benchill Primary and Newall Green High School 3-19 federation, he oversees a community that contains one of the most socially deprived wards in England. The school has a very well-developed, full service multi-agency extended school provision and is situated in an area of Manchester with very keen football support. His federation has just received a substantial funding stream for a five-year family residential programme. Neil says he sees enjoyment every day in the role that he does.
