Leading personalised learning survey
The National College commissioned a large scale survey of school leaders, asking their opinions on what personalising learning is and how it should be delivered.
Through this research school leaders can compare their own experiences with those of leaders across the country. The study also provides insights into how personalising learning can be defined, the barriers that school leaders are overcoming and the next steps they propose to take in order to deliver the personalising learning agenda.
Headlines from the survey
- Over 2,000 school leaders responded to the survey, 94% of whom were headteachers.
- Two thirds (66%) of school leaders agree that they have a sound understanding of what personalising learning means and how they can best lead it in their school.
- Assessment for learning, effective teaching and learning, and focusing in a structured way on each child’s learning were the areas that leaders most strongly associated with the phrase 'personalising learning'.
- Almost one in five (18%) primary leaders still say that they are unclear on what personalising learning means.
- 25% of leaders overall agreed that they don’t currently have a strategy for moving forwards on personalised learning
A short synthesis of the key findings is also available.
