Developing a strategy for your capital investment project
A strategy describes how your school plans to turn its vision for the future into a reality. It looks at the leadership strategies and capacity building required to bring this about. It also looks at what the school might trial and evaluate to inform and prepare for its future practice.
During this time leadership teams will need to consider:
- What short, medium and long-term goals have you identified for achieving each aspect of your vision?
- What new leadership roles and structures will be needed to achieve the vision?
- What roles and responsibilities will be needed and are there clear lines of accountability?
- How they can provide opportunities for staff with relevant skills, passion and enthusiasm to contribute to the implementation of the vision?
- How they will make the best use of expertise and enthusiasm at whatever levels it exists be it a newly-qualified teacher, middle manager, governor or non-teaching staff
- How they will established culture of innovation and change?
- How they will evaluate the effectiveness of the strategy?

Our self-evaluation tool is designed to be used during a capital investment programme. The tool explores a number of key aspects of the capital investment processes that schools need to engage with in order to develop their vision for learning and associated educational brief. The guidance and tool have been written to help leadership teams to make valid judgements about where they are as they enter and progress through a project, whether remodelling or rebuilding.
Managing change
The Bridge Change Leadership Framework provides support in the leadership of transformational change, enabling you to both diagnose your current situation and plan action to address areas needing attention. This handbook is for those who have already been introduced to the model and would like to gain a greater depth of understanding of the main components or would like to introduce the model to others.
