Helping vulnerable and disadvantaged children (narrowing the gap)
A key challenge facing school leaders today centres on reducing the difference between outcomes for specific groups and those for all children and young people, against a background of improvement for all. The outcomes referred to are the five outcomes of Every Child Matters (ECM), which include attainment within the third ECM outcome, 'Enjoy and Achieve'.
To address these challenges, the National College is undertaking a number of activities concerned with narrowing the gap and reducing in-school variation.

Leadership for narrowing the gap
This national initiative provides an opportunity for groups of leaders to improve their leadership for narrowing the gap. It will demonstrate effective approaches to learning to lead for narrowing the gap.
-
