1. What forms of collaborative leadership have provided the most effective strategic leadership of extended services?

It is clear from the outcomes of the project that there is not a one-size-fits-all solution to collaborative leadership of extended services. What emerged from the project was that different models or forms of collaborative leadership can deliver effective extended services. Effective clusters appeared to be proactive in creating a model which suited their needs and purposes.

Despite differences, some common, underpinning factors emerged in relation to effective strategic leadership. These included:

taking the time to establish a clear vision with key stakeholders and winning hearts and minds; case studies: Aylsham,and Sherwood.
genuine distribution of leadership with clear responsibilities spread across key leaders; case studies: Aylsham and Sherwood.
internally driven motivation for collaboration; case studies: Thanet, Sherwood and Lincroft.
strong and positive relationships with the local authority; case studies: Sutton East, Selly Oak, Cheadle and Westwood and Leeds.
