Associate Academy Principal Programme details
| Programme element | Details |
|---|---|
| Academy placement | As part of the programme, you will carry out a placement at a local academy. Programme participants will be asked to arrange their own placement and notify the programme team of the details. Placements last a minimum of five days and are tailored to meet the needs of the participant. The focus and learning outcomes of the placement will be decided by the participant along with their host principal. |
| Face-to-face development sessions | You will be required to attend six two-day residential development sessions. The days include a range of focused learning opportunities on themes such as key principles in headship, leading in challenging circumstances and developing others. Development sessions are held at the National College's Learning and Conference Centre in Nottingham. The sessions will be approximately every six weeks and will include overnight accommodation which is fully subsidised by the College, although you will be required to cover your own travel expenses. |
| Dedicated mentor | You will receive eight hours of support and guidance from your own mentor, who will be an experienced academy principal. Mentors are available to help troubleshoot any difficulties with your placement and guide you on how to get the best from it. They are also on hand to offer advice on any issues arising in the development sessions, as well as any concerns in your day-to-day academy life. Mentors will be arranged by the National College for all participants. |
