Developing Senior Leadership Teams

Developing Senior Leadership Teams

Developing Senior Leadership Teams (DSLT) has been designed to enhance the leadership skills of senior teams in secondary schools to help deliver improved outcomes for children and young people.

The programme is tailored to address school-specific development priorities, with a focus on facilitation rather than direction.

Key facts

  • The programme starts with an experienced facilitator meeting with the headteacher/senior leadership team members to find what they want to achieve from the programme.
  • The model used in DSLT is based on an extensive evidence base derived from international research.
  • The programme builds on analysis of a survey, which collated views about the challenges currently faced by senior leadership teams (SLTs), as well as feedback about ways of working from the teams themselves and other key stakeholders.

Duration

6-9 months.

Delivery method

A combination of online and face-to-face activities, including a two-day workshop.
