Equal Access to Promotion

The core purpose of Equal Access to Promotion (EAP) is to address the professional development needs of black and minority ethnic (BME) teachers in middle leadership, and to provide support for them to move on to senior leadership roles.
The aim of the programme is to enhance participants’ leadership strengths and extend their strategies for overcoming barriers to leadership and promotion. It also boosts participants’ knowledge of current and future career and leadership development opportunities.

- EAP is jointly developed and delivered by the National College and the National Union of Teachers (NUT).
Duration
The programme is spread over approximately six months, which includes a two-day residential element.
Delivery method
EAP is delivered via a combination of face-to-face, school based activities and online elements. Participants receive support from the facilitators and consultant headteachers throughout the programme.
Who can apply?
Participants will typically have at least 4 years' and less than 12 years' teaching experience since gaining QTS. Participants will not have participated in previous EAP programmes.
