Early Headship Provision

EHP is currently being redesigned to create Head Start, a personalised development and support provision starting from NPQH graduation through to early headship. The introduction of the new provision means that you will not be able to register for the current EHP after 31 March 2010.

EHP New Visions is now closed to new applications.

• EHP provides a flexible grant of £1,300, which may be spent with any training provider
• Learning review tools and opportunities for your development are provided from both the National College and regional EHP providers.
• Access to a learning opportunity source and search service provided regionally.

Once registered, you will have until 31 March 2011 to spend your grant. This does not affect you if you have a start date that results in an expiry date before March 2011. For example, if you started on 1 December 2007, you have until 1 December 2010 to spend your grant.

The grant can be used flexibly, giving you access to a wide range of individual and group face-to-face and online learning activities.

EHP is available to headteachers or acting headteachers within their first three years of headship in the maintained education sector in England.

• The deadline for applying for an EHP grant is 31 March 2010.
• The date by which all grants must be spent is 31 March 2011.
