Early Headship Provision

Early Headship Provision (EHP) is now closed to new applications.

From April 2010, EHP has been replaced by Head Start. This new programme provides support to new headteachers who are within the first two years of their first headship and have not previously accessed EHP.

Key facts

If you are already registered for EHP, the programme offers you the following activities:

  • A flexible grant of £1,300, which may be spent on leadership development support appropriate to new headship through your chosen training provider
  • A suite of learning review tools and opportunities for your development from your regional EHP providers
  • Access to a learning opportunity source and search service provided regionally

Duration

Grants expire after three years.

Those grants that haven't expired by 31 March 2011 will do so to coincide with the conclusion of the programme. You will not be able to access any grant funds after 31 March 2011.

Delivery method

The grant can be used flexibly, giving you access to a wide range of individual and group face-to-face and online learning activities.

EHP is now closed to new applicants.

Availability

  • EHP and EHP New Visions are now closed to new applications.
  • The date by which all grants must be spent is 31 March 2011.
  • To register for activities to spend your grant contact your chosen training provider.
