Leadership Pathways programme details

Leadership Pathways provides the latest in leadership thinking and school practice through a combination of face-to-face, school-based and online learning. Participants are able to plan their route through the programme depending on their individual development requirements. The programme takes place over one year.

Programme element Details
Orientation Online resources providing key information about the programme, including an overview of the structure, opportunities and benefits
360° diagnostic Online diagnostic which helps you identify a path through the programme, including which online units and skills workshops you need to complete
Taking first steps One-day face-to-face session focusing on how to be an effective self-directed learner and how best to use the different elements of the programme to suit your leadership development needs
Online learning units

Completion of a minimum of 4 online units covering four areas:

  • extending the community of learners - responding to the challenges and influences that families and communities have on a child's success in life
  • leading learning and teaching - raising standards and maximising the life chances of children
  • stepping up to leadership - how to cope with the increasing demands of leadership at whole-school level
  • resourcing change - human resources, organisational change and development and resource management
Skills workshops

Completion of two face-to-face skill workshops designed around key leadership skills that will supplement your online learning, from the following four:

  • effective influencing
  • leading high-performance teams
  • dealing with challenging behaviour
  • creative problem-solving
Making the difference Online resources to help you plan the leadership change to implement in school
Engaging with change One-day face-to-face session focusing on applying your learning on the programme so far to your particular context, and the difference you can make in your school
Leadership change study Plan, implement and review a school-based leadership change study that will impact on yourself as a leader, the senior leadership team and whole-school agenda, and outcomes for children and young people
Coaching Engagement in a minimum of six coaching sessions
Online networking Continual learning and support through active regional online networks
360° diagnostic revisited Online diagnostic to help you review your leadership changes as a result of learning on the programme
Sharing leadership learning One-day face-to-face session where you will share the key features of your leadership changes, the impact of these in school and what you have learned as a leader
Programme completion Produce evidence that you have engaged in all required aspects of the programme
