Apply for LftM
The application round for the next cohort of Leading from the Middle (LftM), which commences April 2010, is currently open.
Before you begin
LftM is a popular programme and we anticipate demand to exceed the available number of places. Find out what places are currently available.
Prior to taking any action, please ensure you contact your regional provider to discuss your potential application. They will be able to provide guidance on the eligibility criteria and application process.
LftM is currently aimed at collaborative groups comprising between 18-24 participants. If you are not able to create or join such a group, please contact your regional provider who may be able to assist you in joining the programme as part of a learning group.
Application co-ordinator
In order for a collaborative group application to be processed as efficiently as possible, your group must identify an application co-ordinator. The co-ordinator will take the lead in ensuring that key actions in the application process take place. A collaborative group is a group of schools with collective aims, which works together to address a specific local focus through LftM.
The co-ordinator must contact your regional provider to discuss details of the collaborative group, including the key information required.
Expression of Interest (EOI) form
If this conversation with the regional provider indicates a potentially viable collaborative group, the provider will send an EOI form to the application co-ordinator.
Once completed, your co-ordinator will email the EOI form back to the regional provider for review. Please note that the EOI form is not a formal application for LftM.
Formal invitation to apply
If, after review of the EOI, your regional provider is able to issue a formal invitation to apply, they will contact your co-ordinator by email. This email will contain a link to the LftM online application form. The application co-ordinator will then begin the application process for your group following which you will receive access to the application link.
Application time limit
You must complete your formal application as soon as possible. This will enable providers to handle potential collaboratives as fairly as possible.
All applicants will have 10 working days to fully complete the application. If an application remains incomplete after this date, your invitation will be withdrawn and offered to a different group.
Application completion
An application for the programme can only be considered complete if you receive an email specifically confirming receipt of your application for Leading from the Middle. This should not be confused with the email confirming receipt of your application for National College membership as doing so will mean your application to LftM is incomplete. If you are in any doubt, please contact the National College help desk at enquiries@nationalcollege.org.uk or on 0845 609 0009.
Local solutions and initiatives
If participation on LftM has been identified as something that will help you address a demonstrable local need, your group can use this criteria as supporting evidence for your application.
