Primary Capital Leadership Programme

Primary Capital Leadership Programme

The Primary Capital Leadership Programme supports local authorities and school leaders as they enter into the Primary Capital Programme (PCP).

The programme draws on the knowledge of a range of professionals, including primary capital pathfinder local authorities and leaders.

Key facts

  • The Primary Capital Leadership Programme enhances partnership working between local authorities and school leaders, enabling them to create and achieve a shared vision for future learning environments.
  • The programme helps school leaders to understand the primary capital process itself and enables them to play an active and informed part in that process.
  • Local authorities involved in PCP will be invited to take part in the Primary Capital Leadership Programme. Schools to be involved in the programme will have been chosen and approached by their local authorities.

Duration

The main focus of the Primary Capital Leadership Programme is a two day residential event, followed by a period of online support and facilitation.

Delivery method

The programme begins with a two day facilitated face-to-face residential event. This is followed by a period of online support and facilitation.

Who can apply?

Application for the Primary Capital Leadership Programme should be made by a senior local authority officer with responsibility for PCP.

The programme is available to teams of six from an authority comprising:

  • up to two representatives from the authority
  • up to four headteachers and school leaders, including deputy and assistant headteachers, heads of departments, governors, school business managers and subject leaders

The local authority will be responsible for the nomination and registration of individual school leaders.

Next application round

From April 2010, the Building Schools for the Future (BSF) and Primary Capital Programme (PCP) leadership programmes will merge to become the Capital Investment Leadership Programme (CILP). Find out more about CILP.
