School Business Director Programme

The School Business Director (SBD) Programme provides experienced and aspiring school business directors with a personalised solution to further develop their professional learning. Participants are expected to be those school business managers who work in the context of increasingly diverse and complex settings, and face new challenges in terms of their leadership and management skills.
It is offered as part of the National College’s suite of school business management programmes and builds on the already very successful Certificate of School Business Management (CSBM), Diploma of School Business Management (DSBM) and Advanced Diploma of School Business Management (ADSBM). As a result, this opportunity will enable participants to achieve a nationally recognised professional qualification which reflects competence at the highest level of the profession and will also enable participants to continue their learning after the programme to a Masters level.

Financial contribution notice
The National College is committed to ensuring that prospective participants on programmes are always provided with advance notice of any planned changes associated with costs. This notice advises prospective participants that from 23 April 2011 that for all CSBM and DSBM cohorts commencing from that date a financial contribution will be required.
In the case of Aspiring SBM participants this contribution will be required by the individual. For school based applicants we expect the contribution to be paid through their school. Whilst the contribution level is yet to be fully confirmed, we expect it to be in the region of £200-£300. Small schools will remain exempt from this fee in line with college protocol.
This update simply serves as early warning of our plans. Further information will be made available when the relevant application rounds open.
We will also be reviewing contribution arrangements for our higher level programmes, ADSBM and SBD. Further guidance will be provided in due course along with the necessary notice.
