Teaching Leaders

Teaching Leaders

Teaching Leaders is designed to raise levels of pupil achievement in complex urban schools. The programme develops highly motivated, inspirational middle leaders: heads of departments, heads of years and other whole-school roles.

Teaching Leaders has been developed by the National College in partnership with three of the UK's most forward-thinking educational organisations: ARK, Teach First and Future Leaders.

  • The programme includes a residential week at the National College's Learning and Conference Centre in Nottingham.
  • Conferences and seminars are delivered by leading practitioners.
  • All participants receive leadership coaching from a former urban school senior leader.

Duration

Teaching Leaders is a two-year in-role programme.

Delivery method

A combination of face-to-face conferences and seminars, coaching and peer and facilitator support.

Who can apply?

Teaching Leaders recruits participants with the potential to become outstanding middle leaders. Applicants are assessed against a rigorous competency framework and need to be able to show evidence of commitment to raising achievement in urban schools.
