This privacy notice sets out how The National College for School Leadership ("NATIONAL COLLEGE") will use your personal information. By using and visiting our website and using our services you agree to this privacy notice.

1. What information do we collect? How do we use it?

1.1 At times we may request that you voluntarily supply us with personal information. Generally this information is requested when you apply or register for our services or send us an enquiry. We may gather and use information about you in the following ways:

(a) When you use our online enquiry form we may ask for information such as your name, email address and contact details. We keep a record of this information. This is necessary for dealing with your enquiries.

(b) We will use your personal details and information we obtain from other sources for administration and customer services, for marketing, to analyse your purchasing preferences, to facilitate the processing of payments made to us and to ensure that the content, services and advertising that we offer are tailored to your needs and interests.

(c) We may disclose personal data in order to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation or if we are required to do so by a court order.

(d) In addition, when you register as a member we will use your personal information for research and internal statistical analysis, equal opportunities monitoring, to corroborate and validate the personal information you provide and for the provision of education or training information, school leadership services, courses or programmes.

(e) We may also track members by role, frequency of visit and by content visited. We will use this information to increase the relevance of our materials and our communications to you as a member.

(f) We intend to continue improving the content and function of our website and the online network. For this reason, we may monitor customer traffic patterns and site usage to help us improve the design and layout of our site and provide content of interest to you.

(g) We may keep your information for a period of time in line with the NATIONAL COLLEGE's retention policy and schedules.

2. How do we use your information for marketing?

2.1 We may contact you by mail, telephone, email or other electronic messaging service with offers of goods, services, promotions or information in the education, training and professional services sector that may be of interest to you. By providing us with your contact details you consent to being contacted by these methods for these purposes. 3. Sharing of your personal information with third parties

3.1 The NATIONAL COLLEGE is a signatory to the Protocol on Data Sharing and Rationalisation in the Schools Sector. The protocol seeks to minimise the burden of data collection on schools and local authorities by collecting data once and sharing it to support individual pupil learning, whole school improvement and system-wide capacity building. To this end, we may share your data with protocol partners and local authorities.

3.2 We may share your personal information with third parties, which may include our partners and stakeholders who carry out work on our behalf and our service providers and agents for the purposes as set out in Paragraph 1.1 of this policy. All third parties are bound by contractual provisions of confidentiality in respect of personal information shared with them.

4. Sensitive personal information

4.1 The NATIONAL COLLEGE seeks to increase the diversity of school leaders in order to make full use of the talents of all members of the school workforce. We collect sensitive information, such as ethnicity, only to help us measure our effectiveness in this area. You do not have to give this information to access our services.  Where you do provide it, we treat it with care and only use it for anonymous statistical purposes unless otherwise made clear to you.

5. General Teaching Council (GTC) teacher registration data

5.1 The NATIONAL COLLEGE reserves the right to validate teachers' applications using GTC registration data. If you are a teacher applying or registering for our services or programmes, you agree to:

(a) the GTC releasing the non-sensitive data necessary to corroborate your application

(b) inform The NATIONAL COLLEGE if you are currently under a secretary of state or GTC restriction or if any such restriction comes into effect while you are benefiting from our services

6. SMS reminder service

6.1 By providing your mobile telephone number you agree to The NATIONAL COLLEGE contacting you by SMS. For example we may contact you for the purposes of the Leadership Pathways programme to send you SMS reminders. By using this service you accept that we provide no kind of guarantee to deliver the reminder SMS or that there may be some delay in delivery of the SMS which is beyond our control.

7 .How to get copies of or amend the information we have collected

7.1 You may request details of the personal information which we hold about you. A small fee of £10 will be payable. Please write to:

8. Cookies

9.1 We take appropriate measures to ensure that the information disclosed to us is kept secure, accurate and up to date and kept only for so long as is necessary for the purposes for which it is used and is securely destroyed once no longer stored by us. This privacy policy was amended on 26 January 2012 following a general legal review. These changes were made to advise that: we may use data obtained from our partners or third party payment processors to help facilitate and accurately identify any payment you may make to us (Clause 1.1(b); if compelled to do so by a court order, we may need to release personal or sensitive data to third parties to comply with the court order (Clause 1.1(c); we may transfer personal data outside of the EEA for the purposes of contacting our users for fundraising (Clause 1.1(d); and we may need to share their data with our partners or selected third parties, however, all parties will be asked to sign confidentiality agreements in respect of the data before we transfer it to them.
